Gabe Poirot says his experience after a devastating accident gave him an extraordinary vision of what he believes was heaven. In October 2021, when he was 20, Poirot suffered a traumatic brain injury after hitting an object while skateboarding and striking his head on the sidewalk. He remained unconscious for 18 days and later described what he believes happened during that period. Speaking on The Lila Rose Show, Poirot said he felt as though he had entered heaven and eventually came face to face with Jesus. According to his recollection, Jesus appeared to be around 5 feet 11 inches to 6 feet tall, with darker, Middle Eastern-looking skin, medium-length slightly curly hair, and the appearance of a 33-year-old man. Poirot became emotional while explaining that no physical image could truly capture what he saw. However, when asked which existing depiction came closest, he pointed to the Shroud of Turin. The centuries-old linen bears a faint image of a crucified man and has long been regarded by some believers as the burial cloth of Jesus. Poirot said the Shroud represented what he described as the supernatural light of Christ, although he stressed that even it could not fully convey his experience.
Poirot also shared other details about what he says he witnessed during his time in heaven. When asked what people there looked like, he said he could not determine their ages but believed there was only beauty and glory, with no death or decay. He suggested that people in heaven therefore did not appear to age in the way humans do on Earth. He also recalled seeing buildings and what he described as mansions, saying their purpose appeared connected entirely to Christ. Libraries were another part of his description, with Poirot saying the books and surroundings were beautiful and that Jesus was, in his words, “the page” when the books were opened. One of the most emotional parts of his account involved a message he says Jesus personally gave him. Poirot recalled Jesus looking directly at him, lifting his face, and saying, “Gabriel, why are you concerned about that which has been paid for?” His account remains a deeply personal spiritual experience, and he presents these memories as his interpretation of what occurred while he was unconscious.
