Man Puts Mom in Nursing Home and Never Visits Her – Story of the Day

Edith Norton was once a vibrant woman, but as her health declined, she realized she could no longer live alone. After a serious fall, her son Gary decided she should sell her home and move into an assisted living facility, rather than live with him. Though the place was comfortable, Edith felt lonely, especially as Gary rarely visited.

One day, Edith met Jack, a young volunteer who had lost his grandparents. Jack’s kindness brought joy back into her life. Discovering that Edith loved basketball, he began taking her to games, visiting often, and treating her like family. Over three years, their bond grew strong, while Gary remained distant.

When Edith unexpectedly passed away, Jack mourned deeply at her funeral. Gary, however, was more concerned about his inheritance. Days later, he was shocked to learn that Edith had left her entire $1.5 million estate to Jack, the one who had shown her true love and care, instead of to him.

Gary tried to contest the will but failed. Edith’s final act sent a powerful message: family is about love and presence, not just blood ties. Those who neglect their loved ones shouldn’t expect anything in return.
