Selma Blair Faces Serious Charges After Delta Flight Incident — Her Lawyers Reveal a Possible Medical Explanation

Selma Blair, the actress known for Legally Blonde and Cruel Intentions, is facing serious legal trouble following an alleged incident aboard a Delta flight bound for New York’s JFK Airport. On October 12, 2026, the 54-year-old actress pleaded not guilty to two counts of second-degree assault involving a Port Authority police officer and a hospital nurse. According to reports, the confrontation began during the October 11 flight, when Blair allegedly struck one flight attendant and bit another. Authorities also alleged that she kicked an officer while being transported by ambulance and later assaulted a nurse at the hospital. Blair was released after bail was set at $20,000 cash or a $60,000 bond. Her next court appearance was scheduled for January 19, 2027, while federal authorities were reportedly examining the aircraft incident separately.

During the arraignment, Blair’s attorney Shawn Barnes offered a possible explanation, telling the court that she had missed medication prescribed for multiple sclerosis, suffered a fall that resulted in a head injury, and endured exhausting work hours before traveling. He argued that these circumstances, combined with the effects of altitude, may have caused severe confusion and disorientation. Blair’s representative previously described the episode as a medical emergency and confirmed that she received medical attention. The actress was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2018 after years of unexplained symptoms, including fatigue and physical discomfort. She has since spoken openly about her health challenges and efforts to manage the condition. However, the allegations remain unresolved, and the medical explanation has not established what happened during the flight. Blair has pleaded not guilty and remains presumed innocent unless proven guilty. As the case proceeds, the court will consider the evidence and determine the legal consequences, if any.
