A missing mother from Glasgow, Michele Bourda, has been found dead on the small Greek island of Fidonisi after disappearing over a month ago. Her body was discovered by a passing yacht, around 40 km from Ofrinio Beach near Kavala, where she was last seen on August 1.
Michele vanished while her husband, Chris, was asleep on a sun lounger. Her belongings, including her towel and medication, were left behind. An extensive search followed, involving coastguards, police, sniffer dogs, and drones, but no trace was found until now.
Authorities believe she drowned and was carried away by currents, though an autopsy will confirm the cause. Her husband, devastated by the loss, has criticized the slow response of police and coastguards, saying it took three hours to file a missing persons report.
Michele had a history of depression and anxiety but seemed stable and excited about the trip. The investigation continues, with the British Foreign Office assisting, as her family now faces heartbreaking closure.
