Donald and Melania Trump have arrived in the UK for a state visit, staying overnight at Windsor Castle after disembarking from Air Force One. According to a lip reader, at the top of the aircraft stairs, Trump shared two notable words with Melania. The couple received an official invitation from King Charles earlier this year, delivered by UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer in the Oval Office. The Royal Family aims to strengthen diplomatic relations between the US and the UK, even amid tense political times.
Upon landing, the Trumps were welcomed by Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper, US Ambassador Warren Stephens, and Viscount Hood, the king’s lord-in-waiting. While their public interactions involved pleasantries and discussions about the route to Windsor, a lip reader revealed a brief private exchange.
Stepping off the plane, Trump commented on the cold weather: “Ooh, it’s cold. I’m glad we’re wearing our coats.” He also warned Melania to watch her step on the wet stairs, saying, “Ooh, careful.” Protests occurred outside Windsor Castle that evening, with four men arrested after images of Trump and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein were projected onto the castle walls.
During the visit, Trump will receive a royal salute fired simultaneously from the east lawn of Windsor Castle and the Tower of London. The Trumps will also ride through the Windsor estate with King Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince William, and Kate Middleton. Although in London, they will have no formal engagements in the city, focusing their visit on the Windsor estate and royal ceremonies.
