During the highly anticipated UK state visit, Kate Middleton and Melania Trump finally met at Windsor Castle alongside Prince William and President Donald Trump. Fashion lovers were eager to see the pair together, and Kate reportedly couldn’t help but compliment Melania’s outfit moments after their arrival.
According to lip reader Nicola Hickling, Kate told Melania, “Your Macintosh is the same one I have, I wear it each time I fly.” Melania enthusiastically replied, “I know, it’s exceptional and such a comfort. Sometimes I wear it to the house.” The warm exchange delighted royal watchers, who had been buzzing about the two style icons meeting.
The Princess of Wales and First Lady have a history of similar fashion choices. Melania’s powder blue outfit at Donald Trump’s 2017 inauguration resembled a blue Alexander McQueen dress Kate wore five years later. Both also own nearly identical black-and-white polka-dot dresses, worn to different events in 2020 and 2022.
Later in the visit, Melania and Kate planned a private outing to Frogmore Gardens with UK Scoutmaster Dwayne Fields and members of the Scouts’ Squirrels program, which Kate has been involved with since childhood.
