Charlie Kirk, 31, was assassinated while speaking at a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University on September 10, 2025. Initially, the FBI offered a $100,000 reward for information leading to the capture of his killer. As the manhunt intensified, additional pledges came in, including $25,000 each from Alex Bruesewitz and Robby Starbuck. Billionaire Bill Ackman then pledged $1 million, bringing the total reward to $1.15 million.
After 22-year-old Tyler Robinson was arrested for the murder, questions arose about whether his family would be eligible for the reward, as a relative reportedly helped turn him in. Ackman clarified on Twitter that the reward would be paid to whoever provided the key information, even if they were related to the suspect — unless they were involved in the crime or acted negligently.
However, police reports revealed it was actually a family friend who contacted authorities after being told by a relative that Robinson had confessed or implied his involvement. This crucial tip was passed along to the Utah County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI, ultimately leading to Robinson’s capture.
Ackman later confirmed that the reward would be honored once the FBI determined who provided the information, stating, “I always keep my word.” Robinson’s family has reportedly indicated they may waive any claim to the money.
