Donald Trump addressed the United Nations General Assembly in New York for the first time since starting his second term. His speech focused on key global issues, including the Ukraine-Russia conflict, urging Europe to cut off Russian energy, and emphasizing the need for Hamas to release Israeli hostages. He also discussed climate change, artificial intelligence, and tensions between Gaza and Israel.
Before his speech, Trump complained about the UN headquarters, joking about past issues with “cheap tiles” and sharing a recent incident where the escalator stopped mid-ride while he and First Lady Melania Trump were on it. Trump remarked that Melania’s fitness prevented a fall and humorously added that the UN also provided him with a “bad teleprompter.”
However, controversy surrounded Trump after comments he made about Tylenol use during pregnancy, claiming it was linked to autism and suggesting women should “tough it out” instead of taking pain relievers unless dealing with a high fever. These statements caused global backlash.
Tylenol’s manufacturer, Kenvue, strongly refuted Trump’s claims, emphasizing that extensive research shows no credible evidence linking acetaminophen (Tylenol’s active ingredient) to autism. They stressed that it remains the safest pain relief option for pregnant women and warned that discouraging its use could put both mothers and babies at risk.
