Almost two weeks after the shocking assassination of political activist and Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk, the nation remains captivated by the tragedy. Kirk, 31, was shot through the neck while speaking at Utah Valley University on September 10. Known for his outspoken support of former President Donald Trump, Kirk had built a massive following through his speeches and podcasts.
This past weekend, a memorial service was held at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, drawing an estimated 100,000 attendees, with thousands more waiting outside. The event featured speeches from Trump, Donald Trump Jr., and JD Vance, while figures like Elon Musk were also present. Trump praised Kirk, declaring, “None of us will ever forget Charlie Kirk, and neither now will history.”
Kirk’s widow, Erika, gave the most emotional address of the night. Entering the stage amid pyrotechnics and patriotic music, she shocked many by stating she had forgiven the young man who killed her husband. However, some questioned her choice to wear white instead of black, accusing her of turning the event into a performance.
Organizers later clarified that the dress code requested red, white, and blue attire to symbolize the American flag. Erika’s white outfit was meant to honor both her husband and the patriotic theme, reflecting the service’s focus on remembrance and unity.
