A couple woke up at dawn to strange scratching sounds coming from their living room sofa. At first, they thought it was noise from outside, but soon they realized it was coming from inside the couch. Terrified, they called the police. The woman’s voice trembled as she told the dispatcher, “Something is living in our sofa!”
When officers arrived with a K9 unit, the atmosphere was tense. The man sat in his wheelchair, gripping his wife’s hand, while she looked ready to scream. As soon as the police dog entered, it froze, growled, and then lunged at the sofa cushions, digging frantically. The officer’s expression turned grim. “There’s something in there,” he said. “And it’s not small.”
The dog scratched wildly as the officer carefully cut open the side of the couch. Dust and stuffing spilled out before a chilling, high-pitched squeak pierced the room. The woman gasped and covered her mouth, trembling. Everyone stared, frozen in fear of what might crawl out next.
When the opening was wide enough, the truth was revealed: a massive nest of rats had been living deep inside the sofa, hidden for months. The couple was horrified, but relieved to finally know what was haunting their home. The officers helped clear the infestation, and the couple swore never to ignore strange noises again.
