My DIL Returned My Car Totaled after a Trip to Her Friend — She Refused to Pay for the Damages, So I Taught Her a Lesson

After losing her husband, Jennifer focused all her love and energy on her son Toby. When he married Layla, Jennifer hoped to build a good relationship with her daughter-in-law, but things quickly soured. Layla was two-faced, sweet in front of Toby but dismissive and rude when he wasn’t around. Jennifer endured it for the sake of peace, though the tension kept growing.

One day, Layla asked to borrow Jennifer’s car for a week. Hoping this might improve their bond, Jennifer agreed. But when the car was returned, it was scratched, filthy, and smelling awful. Layla flatly denied responsibility and insisted the damage had been there before. To Jennifer’s dismay, Toby took his wife’s side, leaving her both hurt and furious.

Rather than argue further, Jennifer decided to teach Layla a lesson. She secretly sprayed animal attractants around their property, which caused wild animals to leave a horrible mess overnight. The next morning, Toby called in a panic, complaining that their yard and house were unbearable. Jennifer feigned sympathy, knowing Layla would realize exactly who had orchestrated the revenge.

From that day on, Layla stopped mocking or disrespecting Jennifer. At family gatherings, she was noticeably cautious and polite, and Toby began checking in on his mother more often. Jennifer felt she had finally reclaimed her place, setting boundaries that her daughter-in-law would not dare cross again.
