A well-known Australian actress and journalist is mourning the heartbreaking loss of her 13-year-old son, who tragically took his own life after enduring months of relentless bullying at school. Through an emotional Instagram post, she shared the unimaginable pain her family faces and called for action to honor her child’s memory and prevent similar tragedies.
The boy had just started Year 7 at South Sydney High School, where he suffered severe abuse, including physical attacks, humiliation, and constant harassing phone calls. Despite repeated alerts to school officials and the Department of Education, she says no effective action was taken. “They just destroyed him,” she wrote, describing her child as “the brightest light in my world — kind, creative, and endlessly loved.”
In the wake of this tragedy, the mother revealed that her son’s name was Atreyu. She has launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise $300,000 AUD to cryogenically preserve his body and cover medical and legal costs. Any surplus funds will go toward anti-bullying reforms, legal support, and helping other families facing similar struggles.

Atreyu had already begun acting in projects like Deadly Women, Black Truck, and Benefited, showing remarkable talent and promise beyond his years. The actress is now using her platform to fight for justice and ensure no child suffers alone. Her message is clear: bullying must be addressed, families need support, and children deserve safety, care, and hope for the future.
