Former Fox News Anchor Accused of Fatally Stabbing Her 80-Year-Old Mother — Details

A 47-year-old former Fox News anchor turned corporate consultant, Angelynn “Angie” Elizabeth Mock, was arrested in Wichita after her 80-year-old mother, Anita Avers, was found with fatal stab wounds on October 31, 2025. Police were dispatched around 7:52 a.m.; Avers was pronounced dead at 8:26 a.m. Mock was booked into Sedgwick County Jail on a first-degree murder charge and is being held on a $1 million bond.

Early reports suggest Mock may claim self-defense. Dispatch audio indicates a woman said she “stabbed her mother to save herself.” Neighbor Alyssa Castro recounted a blood-covered woman asking to call 911 before returning inside, and Mock reportedly reiterated the self-defense claim. Authorities have not confirmed a motive or any history of domestic conflict.

Before the arrest, Mock had a lengthy broadcast career, including morning anchor roles at KOKH FOX 25 (Oklahoma City) and KTVI FOX 2 (St. Louis), plus earlier stints in Montana, Nebraska, and Minnesota. She later moved into software sales and data management consulting in the private sector and participated in community and charitable events.

The investigation is ongoing as detectives work to determine what led to the deadly encounter. The quiet Wichita neighborhood remains shaken, and condolences have been extended to Avers’ family and friends as they mourn her loss.
