Former Fox News Anchor Accused of Fatally Stabbing Her 80-Year-Old Mother — Details

A former Fox News anchor turned corporate consultant, Angelynn “Angie” Elizabeth Mock, 47, was arrested in Wichita, Kansas, after her 80-year-old mother, Anita Avers, was found with multiple stab wounds on October 31, 2025. Police responded to a “reported cutting” around 7:52 a.m. and discovered Avers unresponsive in bed; she was pronounced dead at 8:26 a.m. Mock was detained on the scene and later booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on a first-degree murder charge, with bond set at $1 million.

Early reporting hints at a potential self-defense claim. Dispatch audio cited by local media references a woman saying she “stabbed her mother to save herself.” Neighbor Alyssa Castro told reporters that a blood-covered woman approached her vehicle asking to call 911, then ran back inside—behavior believed to be Mock contacting authorities herself. Investigators have not confirmed a motive, prior domestic history, or how the confrontation unfolded.

The case contrasts sharply with Mock’s public résumé. She spent years anchoring morning news in multiple markets, including KOKH FOX 25 (Oklahoma City) and KTVI FOX 2 (St. Louis), earning industry recognition before moving into software sales as a data management consultant in 2019. She also participated in charitable events, emceeing for the American Heart Association and supporting Alzheimer’s initiatives.

Mock remains in custody as detectives continue their investigation. Authorities have released limited details about the weapon or precipitating events. The community mourns Avers’ death while awaiting clearer answers from the legal process. Our condolences go out to Avers’ family and all who knew her.
