I Made My Son Live as a Homeless Man for a Week After He Mocked One

My son Eidan had been lazy and spoiled for years, relying on me to handle everything while he did nothing. After his rude and mocking behavior toward a homeless man named Stephen, I decided it was time for a wake-up call. Eidan had been unemployed for two years, refusing to take responsibility, and his attitude was out of control.

One evening, after Eidan insulted Stephen harshly, I confronted him and demanded an apology — which he flat out refused to give. That was the last straw. I told Eidan he had seven days to live like Stephen: to experience the struggles, the hard work, and the reality of life on the streets. Stephen moved in with us, while Eidan was forced to leave the house.

Stephen, despite his situation, was a kind man who had lost his memory and lived without a home for a long time. Surprisingly, he was skilled at gardening and honest work. As he helped around the house, I saw a different kind of strength in him, and I realized Eidan needed to learn respect and responsibility from someone like Stephen.

Throughout the week, Eidan had to face the consequences of his choices and see the world from a new perspective. Then, in a surprising twist, Stephen’s past reemerged when a woman named Amalia arrived — someone from his old life. We found out Stephen had a daughter and grandson waiting for him, ready to take him back. This experience was difficult for all of us, but I hoped it would teach Eidan the importance of humility, respect, and hard work. It was the beginning of a long journey toward change and hopefully a better future for our family.
