I Refused to Let My Ex Husband’s Kid Use My Bathroom, My House Is Not a Public Toilet

A divorced mom with two kids has a tense custody arrangement with her ex-husband. One day, he arrived to pick up the boys, this time with his fiancée’s 4-year-old son in tow. He asked to come inside so the child could use the bathroom, but she refused, explaining she wasn’t comfortable letting him in because of his history of snooping. She even suggested a nearby McDonald’s, but he insisted her bathroom was cleaner.

The situation escalated when their 11-year-old offered to take the boy to the bathroom, and the ex refused, snapping that his ex-wife would rather the child pee his pants. Furious, he left with the kids and later accused her of being cruel and humiliating him in front of their children. She began questioning whether she had been too harsh.

Later, when it was her turn to pick up the boys, her ex tried to flip the script. He opened his door wide, inviting her in to “show the kids they were civil.” She refused, sensing a trap. He stalled the children, insisting they couldn’t leave unless she entered. Eventually, the kids ran to her, but his fiancée tried calling them back. The bizarre encounter left her suspicious of his motives.

Online commenters largely sided with her, suggesting the ex was using the child’s bathroom request as a power play or even a setup. Some noted his refusal to let the older son help proved he was less concerned about the child’s needs and more focused on controlling his ex. Many agreed she was right to hold her boundary and avoid potentially dangerous manipulation.
