My Husband’s Family Wants His Money

I lost my husband suddenly, leaving me with our two kids and overwhelming grief. His life insurance couldn’t bring him back, but it gave us stability. I set it aside for our children’s future—college, daily needs, and security.

Months later, my in-laws began asking for money. They wanted me to give part of the insurance to my husband’s grandparents, even though they’d barely been present in our lives. Their reasoning? “Your husband would have wanted this.”When I explained the money was for our kids, the guilt trips began. My mother-in-law called me selfish, greedy, and dishonoring my husband’s memory. She cried, pressured me constantly, and eventually dragged my children into it—telling my 6-year-old that Daddy would be sad if we didn’t help.I refused to let them manipulate my kids, but now I’m the family villain. Relatives believe I’m hoarding money while they suffer, and some won’t even speak to me.I stood firm to protect my children’s future, but the pressure hasn’t stopped. They’ve turned family against me, and I fear they’ll escalate further.
