Joshua bought an old couch at a garage sale, expecting nothing more than a cheap piece of furniture for the guest room he was creating in his garage. The seller, Kristen, told him it belonged to her late mother and that she was selling items to help pay for her daughter’s leukemia treatments. Joshua paid the $20, loaded the couch, and left feeling like he’d gotten a good deal.
Once he brought the couch home, something strange happened. His dog, Wasabi, became obsessed with one spot on the cushions, barking and scratching nonstop. At first, Joshua laughed it off, assuming the couch simply had an odd smell. But Wasabi wouldn’t stop, and Joshua’s curiosity grew.
He remembered stories of people finding treasures hidden in old furniture and wondered if it could actually be happening to him. Wasabi kept digging at the same spot until Joshua finally grabbed a knife to check beneath the fabric. His heart pounded as he carefully cut into the lining, unsure of what he might uncover.
He had only wanted a cheap couch — but whatever Wasabi had found was clearly something much bigger, something that would change more than just his garage makeover.
