The truth shattered me. He admitted he only married me to secure his inheritance, then packed his things and left that very night. Chloe blocked me, and my family begged me to forgive her because she was “still my sister.” I couldn’t. I cut contact, poured myself into work, and rebuilt my life on my own.

Five years later, I had a steady career, a safe home, and peace. I thought the past was behind me — until one random evening at the grocery store.

I heard a familiar voice. Ethan. And there he was with Chloe, looking nothing like the “perfect couple.” He was tired, she was bitter, and their little girl cried in the cart as they argued about money and betrayal — loud enough for the whole store to hear.
