Aruna Rodrigues, one of conjoined twins separated in a 19-hour surgery in Brazil, died on Christmas Eve after developing severe complications months after the operation. Her sister Kiraz had passed away just days after the complex procedure in May, which separated the twins who were joined at the chest, abdomen, and pelvis.
After showing initial improvement and leaving intensive care, Aruna developed a viral infection that led to septic shock. Despite extensive medical efforts, she died on December 24. Doctors and hospital officials expressed deep sorrow, praising the family’s courage and confirming ongoing psychological support as they mourn the loss of both children.
