A wooden John Lewis toy likely to have featured on Christmas lists across the country has been urgently recalled after the retailer warned it is a choking hazard for babies.John Lewis has urged shoppers to stop their children using the product ‘immediately’ amid fears it could harm babies and toddlers.The kitchen roleplay toy includes a small wooden tray, a knife and a variety of wooden food items used in a classic roast dinner such as carrots, potatoes, a chicken drumstick, cabbage and broccoli.
But it does not meet the required safety regulations, according to the Office for Product Safety & Standards.The product, which was manufactured in China and sold between September 3 and November 24, poses a choking risk to children under three.The velcro can easily detach and create a small part which some children could be tempted to try and eat.In a statement, the Office for Product Safety and Standards said: ‘The product has been recalled from end users.The product presents a risk of choking as the hook and loop fastening can detach during reasonably foreseeable use, creating a small part.
