Trans killer, 30, who executed her parents then converted to Islam is jailed for 25 years after trying to skip ‘stressful’ sentencing

Mia Bailey, 30, was sentenced to two consecutive terms of 25 years to life for murdering her parents in their Utah home in June 2024 and up to five years for shooting at her brother. She asked to skip the sentencing hearing, saying revisiting the crimes could trigger a mental breakdown.

In a statement read by her attorney, Bailey said she converted to Islam in prison and expressed remorse, citing severe mental health diagnoses. Her brothers told the court they still fear her and believe prison is necessary for everyone’s safety, noting their mother had long tried to get her help before the killings.
