Anthony Joshua was injured in a fatal car crash where two people died, reports have claimed.Following on from his bout with Jake Paul in Miami, Joshua was back in Nigeria, where he has family roots, over the festive break and was involved in a crash in a busy highway in Makun, Ogun State.As per The Telegraph, citing eyewitnesses and additional reports, a vehicle carrying the two-time world heavyweight champion collided with a stationary truck.
Reports say Joshua suffered minor injuries but two people were killed as a result.Nigerian outlet Punch shared pictures of a shirtless Joshua in the car after the crash on Monday afternoon and said that circumstances are still being investigated but that two people died “on the spot”.An eye-witness shared details on what happened, telling Punch: “It was a two-vehicle convoy: a Lexus SUV and a Pajero SUV. Joshua was seated behind the driver, with another person beside him.
“There was also a passenger sitting beside the driver, making four occupants in the Lexus that crashed. His security detail was in the vehicle behind them before the crash.“Other eyewitnesses and I began the rescue and flagged down oncoming vehicles to assist. A few minutes after the crash, officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps arrived.”Joshua’s camp are understood to be aware of the crash and are awaiting further details on exactly what happened. On social media, road safety officials in Nigeria issued a number of updates on the situation, stating Joshua was among five adult males in the crash.
