My husband and I have been married for a year, and his parents constantly pressure us about having a baby. At every family dinner, they talk about when I’ll get pregnant. Last month, we decided to get tested to check everything. My results came back fine, but my husband’s showed a fertility issue. We agreed to keep it private, but he ended up telling his mom — a big mistake.
The next day, my MIL called me, furious, accusing me of lying and “tricking” her son. She even demanded to see my medical records, which I firmly refused. Two days later, I came home to find my husband pale and shaken. He confessed that his mom had gone to my clinic pretending to be me, trying to steal my records. Thankfully, the clinic didn’t give her anything.
When I went to apologize to my doctor for the incident, I was stunned to learn that while at the clinic, my MIL’s own past records were found, showing she also struggled with fertility years ago. The irony of it all left me speechless — she, of all people, should understand what we’re going through.
Now, I’m left questioning why she can’t be more supportive of her son instead of attacking me. My husband and I are working on setting boundaries and protecting our peace, even if it means going low-contact. This situation has taught me that mental health and privacy must come first, no matter how close family is.
