Why i chose to get checked instead of ignoring the pain

My husband and I were packing to move when I started to feel pain in my right side. At first, it felt like the kind of discomfort that comes from lifting too many boxes or twisting the wrong way. He tried to reassure me, suggesting it was probably just a pulled muscle, and I wanted to believe him. With so much to do and so many changes ahead, slowing down felt inconvenient. But the pain lingered. Days passed, and instead of fading, it became a constant reminder that something wasn’t quite right. I tried resting, stretching, and telling myself it would improve, yet a quiet unease settled in. Eventually, I realized that ignoring my body wasn’t helping anyone, so I decided to visit urgent care for peace of mind.

The medical staff listened carefully and explained that it could be something routine, or it could be something that needed closer attention. To be safe, they recommended a CT scan. Lying there waiting for answers, I felt a mix of fear and gratitude—fear of the unknown, and gratitude that I had chosen to get checked rather than dismiss the pain. The results showed that it wasn’t appendicitis or a muscle issue, but a condition that required timely treatment and follow-up. It was a turning point for me. That experience taught me the importance of listening to my body and advocating for my health, even during life’s busiest moments. Sometimes, paying attention early can make all the difference later.
