Say goodbye to wrinkled clothes, throw this in the washing machine: better than ironing.

Wrinkled laundry is one of the most annoying parts of washing clothes. No matter how carefully garments are cleaned, they often emerge from the machine creased and stiff, demanding time at the ironing board. For many people, ironing is the most dreaded household chore — one that steals weekends and free time. But a simple, inexpensive solution can drastically reduce wrinkles and soften fabrics without extra effort. The secret isn’t a fancy product or expensive machine setting. It’s something most households already have in the kitchen: white vinegar.

Adding a small amount of white vinegar to the fabric softener compartment during a wash cycle helps relax fabric fibers, making clothes softer and significantly less wrinkled when they come out of the machine. Vinegar also removes detergent residue, which often contributes to stiffness. For even better results, a light spray made from equal parts water and vinegar can be misted onto clothes before air-drying, allowing wrinkles to smooth out naturally. Baking soda is another helpful option, offering similar softening effects when added to the wash. These simple, natural ingredients reduce the need for ironing, save time, and eliminate reliance on chemical fabric softeners. With this easy habit, laundry becomes quicker, clothes look fresher, and the ironing board can finally take a well-deserved rest.
