His wife, Margarita, said he first woke up feeling sore, which he believed was caused by a poor night’s sleep. Over the next few days, however, the pain in his neck and back grew more severe.The situation turned critical when Quinton lost feeling in his legs while walking upstairs. Margarita, who is a registered nurse, was with him at the time. She helped him lie down and called 911.She recalled that her husband began slipping in and out of consciousness during the ambulance ride to the hospital. Shortly after arrival, doctors placed him on life support.However, Margarita said the machines were not doing all the work and that her husband was partially breathing on his own.
