American tennis champion Sloane Stephens and former U.S. soccer star Jozy Altidore have decided to end their marriage. Stephens shared the news on social media, saying the decision was made with mutual respect and asking for privacy during this transition. The couple, who were childhood sweetheats and met in middle school in Florida, became engaged in 2019 and married in January 2022 in Miami Beach.
Both athletes continue to focus on their professional paths. Stephens, the 2017 US Open champion, has recently returned to competition following injury setbacks and is working toward rebuilding her ranking. Altidore, a longtime U.S. Men’s National Team forward with an extensive club career in the U.S. and Europe, has transitioned into business ventures, including involvement in a soccer ownership group.
