A 35-year-old man has been arrested after attacking several people at a Jehovah’s Witness stand inside Würzburg Central Station in Bavaria, Germany. The incident occurred at around 7:50am in the station’s entrance hall, where the suspect allegedly approached the stand and attempted to stab a 68-year-old man while also physically assaulting two others, aged 55 and 51. Bavarian Police confirmed that passersby, including a plainclothes police officer, quickly intervened and managed to subdue the suspect before federal and local police patrols arrived and placed him under arrest. Authorities are treating the case as attempted homicide. Fortunately, the three victims sustained only minor injuries and did not suffer stab wounds, though they received medical attention at the scene. Police stated there is currently no danger to the public, and local train services were not disrupted.
The area around the station was temporarily cordoned off as Würzburg Criminal Police launched a full investigation. Officers are reviewing CCTV footage from the station and searching the suspect’s apartment, while witnesses are being questioned about his movements before the attack and any statements or gestures he made during the incident. Investigators are also examining potential motives. The attack has drawn comparisons to a 2021 stabbing in Würzburg, though authorities have not indicated any direct connection. Jehovah’s Witnesses, a Christian denomination known for public preaching, were operating an information stand at the time. Police say the investigation remains ongoing as they work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the attack.
