The long-running Kyle and Jackie O Show has abruptly collapsed following a dramatic feud between co-hosts Jackie “O” Henderson and Kyle Sandilands. Australian Radio Network (ARN), the parent company of KIIS FM, confirmed that Henderson’s $100 million contract has been terminated after she informed executives she could no longer work with Sandilands following a heated on-air clash. The conflict erupted during the February 20 broadcast when Sandilands criticized Henderson’s focus during a discussion about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and mocked her interest in astrology. Henderson became emotional on air and later took leave from the program. ARN described Sandilands’ conduct during the broadcast as “serious misconduct” and issued a written notice stating he has 14 days to address the breach of contract. During that period, Sandilands has been suspended from the show, and the KIIS breakfast program has been taken off air while the network organizes temporary replacements. Henderson, meanwhile, has reportedly been offered the possibility of hosting a different show on the network.
The fallout is particularly striking given the pair’s long partnership and lucrative deal. Henderson and Sandilands signed a 10-year contract with ARN in 2023 reportedly worth around $200 million, with eight years remaining. The two radio personalities have worked together for nearly three decades, first teaming up in 2000 on Hot30 Countdown at 2Day FM before launching The Kyle and Jackie O Show in 2004 and later moving to KIIS FM in 2014. Industry insiders had previously suggested tensions between the hosts had been building for some time. In recent comments, Sandilands said he regretted hurting Henderson’s feelings but insisted the exchange was typical of their candid on-air style. Henderson has not publicly commented since the dispute, though reports suggest she had sought legal advice before deciding she could no longer continue the partnership. The breakdown marks a dramatic turning point for one of Australia’s most recognizable radio duos.
