Throughout her long career, she has taken part in a wide range of projects, from the cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show to critically acclaimed films such as Thelma & Louise and Dead Man Walking, which earned her an Oscar. In 2024, she once again pushed her creative boundaries with the psychological thriller Babygirl, directed by Halina Reijn. In the film, Kidman portrays Romy Mathis, a powerful business executive who becomes involved in a complicated relationship with a younger colleague, played by Harris Dickinson. Kidman later explained that portraying such emotionally intense moments required a great deal of trust between the actors and the filmmaking team.

While promoting the film, Kidman openly discussed the challenges of filming scenes that demanded strong emotional vulnerability. She shared that certain moments during production felt overwhelming and required breaks to maintain balance while performing such demanding material. According to Kidman, the filming process involved close collaboration with the director and the film’s intimacy coordinator to ensure the cast felt safe and respected throughout the production. Despite the intensity of the role, she expressed pride in exploring new creative territory as an actor. Kidman has often said she chooses projects that allow her to grow artistically and explore unfamiliar aspects of storytelling. Her co-star Harris Dickinson also spoke about the experience, noting that the team prioritized open communication and comfort during filming.
