Sandra Lee, widely known as “Dr. Pimple Popper,” experienced a frightening medical emergency in late 2025 while filming at her dermatology practice in Upland, California. At first, she noticed subtle but unusual symptoms, including sweating, dizziness, and a general sense of disorientation. Because these signs can overlap with common hormonal changes, she initially assumed she might be experiencing a hot flash and continued working through her day without immediate concern. As a physician, she was familiar with a wide range of conditions, yet the early warning signs still appeared mild enough to dismiss in the moment.However, as the day progressed and she was later at her parents’ home, her condition began to worsen in ways that could no longer be ignored. She developed difficulty walking, leg pain, and noticeable problems with coordination. By the following morning, the symptoms escalated further, including weakness on one side of her body and trouble speaking clearly.

Recognizing the seriousness of these neurological changes, medical attention was sought immediately, and an MRI scan confirmed she had suffered an ischemic stroke caused by restricted blood flow to the brain. The diagnosis was especially jarring for Lee, who understood exactly what was happening even as she experienced it firsthand.Following the stroke, Lee stepped back from filming and began a structured rehabilitation process focused on restoring strength, speech, and motor skills. Although she has made progress, she continues to manage lingering effects from the event. She has described the experience as both shocking and humbling, underscoring how quickly serious medical emergencies can develop, even for someone with extensive medical knowledge and experience.
