Trump slams ABC reporter after asking about gas prices and the Iran war

President Donald Trump sparked another heated exchange with the media during a public appearance in Washington, D.C., where he showcased plans for a major makeover of the nation’s capital. While standing near the Lincoln Memorial, Trump defended his expensive renovation projects, including a proposed $7.5 million repainting of the Eisenhower Executive Office Building and a White House ballroom project reportedly costing hundreds of millions of dollars. Tensions rose when ABC News correspondent Rachel Scott questioned why he was prioritizing beautification projects while the war involving Iran continued and gas prices remained a concern for many Americans. Trump quickly interrupted the reporter, insisting he wanted to keep the country “beautiful and safe” before criticizing her question and calling ABC “fake news.” The moment added to a long history of public clashes between Trump and members of the press, especially Scott, whom he has criticized before.

At the same time, Trump’s foreign policy decisions have continued drawing international attention and controversy. Reports surrounding the Iran conflict suggest growing tensions between the United States and several NATO allies, including Germany, Spain, and the United Kingdom. According to leaked Pentagon documents, the administration has allegedly explored ways to pressure European partners after disagreements over support for U.S. military actions involving Iran. Trump also announced plans to remove thousands of U.S. troops from Germany after Chancellor Friedrich Merz criticized America’s handling of negotiations with Iran. Despite the criticism abroad, Trump continues defending his approach, arguing that allies must contribute more to global security. Meanwhile, he has also weighed in on rising World Cup ticket prices, saying ordinary Americans should still be able to attend the tournament. Together, the controversies highlight how Trump’s second term continues to blend aggressive foreign policy, domestic spectacle, and headline-grabbing confrontations.
