Before a fatal collision on an active runway at Denver International Airport (DEN), the man involved had a long and troubled history marked by repeated arrests, incarceration, and periods of homelessness. The incident occurred around 11:19 p.m. on May 8, 2026, when Frontier Airlines Flight 4345 was preparing for departure to Los Angeles. According to airport officials, a pedestrian later identified as 41-year-old Michael Mott breached airport security by jumping the perimeter fence and was struck by an Airbus A321 during takeoff just minutes later. The aircraft, carrying 231 passengers, suffered an engine fire following the impact, prompting emergency crews to respond immediately. Smoke was reported inside the cabin, and passengers were evacuated using emergency slides before being transported back to the terminal.
