A Utah judge has ordered Tyler Robinson, the suspect in the killing of political activist Charlie Kirk, to remain in jail without bail. Robinson faces initial charges of aggravated murder, felony firearm discharge, and obstruction of justice, though formal charges are pending.
Authorities recovered a high-powered bolt-action rifle, footwear impressions, and prints near the scene. Engravings on ammunition included internet meme references, video game commands, and cultural phrases, which experts say may have no clear meaning outside online communities.
Robinson was arrested after confessing to his father, a U.S. Marshals Service member, who contacted law enforcement with the help of a family pastor. The Utah Attorney General and Governor Spencer Cox confirmed the death penalty is being considered.
The investigation continues as officials work to determine Robinson’s motive.
