Alaskan Bush People’s Matt Brown shared heartbreaking message in last video before death aged 43

Matt Brown of Alaskan Bush People has been confirmed dead after authorities recovered his body in the Okanogan River near Oroville, Washington, following a disturbing 911 call that launched an urgent search. The caller reportedly saw a man sitting in shallow water before hearing a sound and turning back to witness him face down in the river, drifting with the current. Emergency crews, including law enforcement, drones, and water units, searched the area extensively, but dangerous conditions slowed efforts. Days later, private citizens discovered a body that was later identified by authorities and confirmed by family members. His brother Bear Brown later shared the heartbreaking news in an emotional video, while also revealing that their brother Noah helped recover and identify Matt. Investigators also noted that a firearm was found near the scene, though the official cause of death has not yet been released.

Before his death, Matt Brown had openly documented his long struggle with mental health and addiction, often speaking candidly to fans about recovery and relapse. In one of his final Instagram posts in 2024, he described using rehab tools, counseling support, and written reflections to manage difficult periods, encouraging viewers with the message “never give up, never surrender.” He spoke honestly about setbacks and the ongoing effort required to rebuild stability, offering a raw look into his personal battles. Known for appearing in nearly 80 episodes of Alaskan Bush People, Matt was remembered not only for his life on television but also for his creativity, intelligence, and openness. Following his passing, his family asked for privacy while honoring him for his curiosity, resilience, and the many people he inspired through his honesty about recovery and struggle.
