Slice pool noodles into rings and wrap them with string lights. You’ll see why everyone’s obsessed with this one.

Pool noodle ring lights have become a popular DIY trend because they are affordable, lightweight, and surprisingly elegant. A simple pool noodle costs only a few dollars, yet it can be transformed into glowing decorative rings that resemble expensive boutique décor. Their soft foam material makes them easy to cut, shape, and customize, allowing anyone to create stylish lighting without advanced crafting skills. Because pool noodles are extremely light, the finished decorations can be hung almost anywhere, including ceilings, patios, walls, trees, or garden spaces, without requiring heavy tools or complicated hardware. To make them, all you need are pool noodles, LED string lights, a sharp knife, and basic supplies such as tape, zip ties, or low-temperature hot glue. Optional decorations like ribbons, artificial flowers, greenery, mesh fabric, or spray paint can add extra personality and style to the final design.

Creating the ring lights is simple and fun. Start by slicing the pool noodles into even circular pieces about one to three inches thick, making sure the cuts remain symmetrical for a polished appearance. If you want larger decorative loops, you can carefully bend and tape the noodle into a complete circle. Once the foam rings are prepared, wrap LED string lights around each one in a spiral pattern. Tighter wrapping creates a brighter glow, while spacing the lights farther apart produces a softer twinkling effect. LED lights are ideal because they stay cool and are safe to use with foam materials, unlike traditional incandescent bulbs that may overheat. These glowing rings can be displayed in countless creative ways, such as hanging clusters, floating halo designs, glowing garden paths, or event centerpieces. Beyond their beauty, pool noodle ring lights offer an inexpensive and satisfying way to create a warm, magical atmosphere in any space.
