Maria Bartiromo Abruptly Leaves Fox News—Reports Point to a Private Dispute

Maria Bartiromo finished what became her final Fox Business broadcast without delivering an on-air farewell to viewers. Hours later, Fox News Media announced that the veteran financial journalist was leaving immediately after 12½ years with the company. The network thanked Bartiromo for her work but offered no detailed public explanation for the sudden separation. By the following day, “Mornings with Maria” was scheduled to become “Mornings with FOX Business,” initially led by rotating anchors. Her weekend program, “Maria Bartiromo’s Wall Street,” was also renamed, while Jason Chaffetz was selected to temporarily lead “Sunday Morning Futures.” Behind those swift changes, however, reports suggested the decision had been developing for weeks.

According to CNN, citing an unnamed person familiar with the matter, Fox executives had decided in August to remove Bartiromo. The reported disagreement centered on confidential guidance involving a proposed segment about China and disputed claims connected to the 2020 election. A network executive allegedly told producers that the story should not air. Bartiromo was then accused of forwarding a screenshot of that internal direction to senior White House officials. Fox management reportedly learned about the disclosure through a call from the White House—and viewed what happened next as grounds for immediate action.

Media reporter Dylan Byers offered similar details, reporting that Bartiromo had been taken off the air after August 9. He said management considered the alleged sharing of internal communication a violation of her employment agreement, even though she had reportedly renewed her contract in February. Her executive producer, Patrick Ignozzi, was also dismissed following the announcement. An attorney reviewing such a dispute would likely examine confidentiality clauses, court exposure, insurance protections, and the financial investment attached to a major television contract. Bartiromo’s long-running programs had regularly covered mortgage rates, estate planning, banking, and Wall Street markets, making her sudden absence especially noticeable to Fox Business viewers.

Attention quickly shifted toward what Bartiromo might do next. Some social-media users suggested she could enter the White House press operation following Karoline Leavitt’s announced departure, though no appointment was confirmed. Vice President JD Vance appeared to dismiss the rumor, saying he did not believe Bartiromo would become press secretary while praising her talent and avoiding Fox’s internal dispute. Other possible successors reportedly include Anna Kelly, Alina Habba, Harrison Fields, Margo Martin, and Katie Miller. For now, Fox is rebuilding its schedule with temporary hosts, while Bartiromo has not publicly revealed her next move. After more than a decade as one of the network’s most recognizable financial voices, the unanswered question is where viewers will see her next.
