Sir Tom Jones Speaks Out After ITV Shake-Up — His Honest Reaction to Leaving The Voice UK Has Fans Talking

Sir Tom Jones has spoken out after reports that he will no longer serve as a full-time coach on The Voice UK, making it clear that leaving the popular ITV show was not his choice. The Welsh music legend, who has been part of 13 of the program’s 14 seasons, said he loves the series and appreciates its loyal audience. In a statement, Jones explained that ITV had made the decision and that he was only informed recently. He said he had initially been given a different explanation, involving financial difficulties connected to insurance, while reports later described the move as an effort to “refresh” the show with a new coaching lineup. Jones also revealed that ITV had offered him a reduced role involving appearances without being involved from the beginning. While he did not appear pleased with the arrangement, he remained measured, noting that there is never a good time to remove an 86-year-old who still feels capable of doing his job. ITV, meanwhile, has said it continues to discuss his future involvement with the program.

Jones has been one of the most recognizable faces of The Voice UK since its early years, mentoring several successful contestants along the way. He coached winners including Leanne Mitchell, Ruti Olajugbagbe and Anthonia Edwards, adding to a career that has already earned him a knighthood for his contribution to music. The show began on BBC One in 2012 before ITV took over from the sixth series. Reports suggest other well-known names could join the coaching panel for the next season, although ITV has not completely closed the door on Jones returning in some capacity. The broadcaster praised its long relationship with the singer and confirmed that he would not be a full-time coach for series 15, while discussions about his involvement continue. For fans who have watched Jones guide performers for more than a decade, his uncertain future marks a notable change for the beloved talent show.
