Breaking Bad Star RJ Mitte Reportedly Dies at 34 — Remembering His Impact Beyond the Screen

RJ Mitte, best known for playing Walter White Jr. in the acclaimed television drama Breaking Bad, has reportedly died at the age of 34. According to the report, the actor passed away on Monday in Brownsville, Texas, with representatives confirming the news. A statement described Mitte as a beloved actor, philanthropist, and passionate advocate for disability rights. He was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at just three years old and later used his career to help raise awareness about the condition. His portrayal of Walter White Jr., the son of Bryan Cranston’s troubled chemistry teacher, became one of the defining roles of his career, appearing in more than 50 episodes between 2008 and 2013. At the time of the report, no cause of death had been confirmed.

Mitte’s influence extended well beyond the screen. After moving to Hollywood in 2006, he pursued roles that could help audiences better understand disability and inclusion. He also appeared in productions including Everybody Hates Chris, Hannah Montana, Switched at Birth, The Guardians of Justice, and the 2025 film Westhampton. His performance in Breaking Bad earned him the SAG-AFTRA Harold Russell Award, while his advocacy work included serving as an ambassador for United Cerebral Palsy and Shriners Children’s. He also led the Mitte Foundation, which supported charitable efforts and aimed to challenge misconceptions about people living with disabilities. In October 2025, Mitte shared another major milestone when he announced his engagement to longtime partner Kennedy Suarez after five years together. He described her as his life partner and expressed excitement about building a future with her. As tributes emerge, Mitte’s legacy is remembered not only through a celebrated television role but also through his commitment to representation, awareness, and inclusion.
