Our family has never been wealthy, but we’ve always made sure there was enough of everything. We didn’t live luxuriously, but we were never poor either. My daughter is a single mom and actually earns more than my husband and I do. Despite this, she often asks me to buy things like diapers and baby formula, yet I see her going to expensive places regularly.
Recently, she asked for money again, saying the baby was hungry. As we were talking, I looked at her wrist and noticed a new watch I had never seen before. When I asked about it, she casually replied, “Oh, I bought it yesterday. Do you like it?” I was floored. I told her she needed to stop spending money on luxuries and start being a more responsible parent.
I said, “If you have money for this, you’ll find some for baby formula.” She called me a cruel grandmother and started ranting about how everything is expensive nowadays. The conversation escalated, and I eventually asked her to leave. She still thinks I’m wrong, but I believe someone had to tell her the truth.
