A 25-year-old crew member from the long-running Discovery Channel series Deadliest Catch has passed away while filming the show’s latest season. Todd Meadows had recently joined the crew of the fishing vessel Aleutian Lady, working in the demanding conditions of the Bering Sea crab fishery. Captain Rick Shelford confirmed the news in a heartfelt social media tribute, describing 25 February as one of the most difficult days in the vessel’s history. He remembered Meadows as a dedicated deckhand whose strong work ethic and enthusiasm quickly earned the respect of the entire crew. According to Shelford, his positive attitude and contagious laughter made a lasting impression both on deck and in the wheelhouse. Production for the season was reportedly nearing completion at the time of his passing.
Beyond his work at sea, Meadows was a devoted husband and father to three young children. In his tribute, Captain Shelford emphasized how deeply he cared for his family, noting that everything he did reflected his love and commitment to them. A fundraising campaign has since been launched to support his family and help with expenses during this difficult period. The campaign describes him as a determined father who worked tirelessly to provide for his children. Discovery Channel also released a statement expressing sympathy, sharing that the network is deeply saddened by the loss and extends its thoughts to his loved ones, crewmates, and the wider fishing community. Those who knew Meadows say his memory will remain an enduring part of the crew and the close-knit brotherhood he was proud to join.
