Jeff always bragged about being the “man of the house,” but when he gave Mom toilet paper as her birthday gift, my siblings and I had enough. Mom laughed nervously, but we saw her pain. It wasn’t just a joke — it was cruel. That night, we decided to take action and free her from his control once and for all.
Two days later, we invited Jeff to his favorite Chinese restaurant. While he showed off by eating the spiciest food on the menu, Mom and Lily were at home with movers, packing up all of Mom’s belongings — including Jeff’s prized recliner and, most importantly, every roll of toilet paper in the house.
When we returned home, Jeff rushed to the bathroom, his stomach upset from the food, only to discover there was no toilet paper. From behind the door, Mom announced she was leaving him and taking back her dignity. Jeff yelled in panic, but we walked out, laughing as his angry shouts echoed through the house.
The next day, Jeff left countless voicemails begging Mom to return. Instead, we sent him a jumbo pack of toilet paper with a note reading, “For a real man.” Mom moved in with Lily and began rebuilding her life, finally free from Jeff’s control — and we couldn’t have been prouder.
