Robert Pattinson responds to criticism of his Batman body with blunt statement

Robert Pattinson has hit back at critics who claimed the star ‘didn’t work out’ to get in shape to play Batman.Pattinson, 40, played the caped crusader in The Batman in 2022 and is gearing up to reprise the role in The Batman: Part II, which is slated to be released in October 2027.The Twilight star followed in the steps of more bulked-up actors, including Ben Affleck and Christian Bale, with a leaner Batman and was met with a ‘lukewarm reception to his superhero body’.In a new interview with GQ, Pattinson responded to the criticism surrounding his physique and the claims that he ‘didn’t work out at all’.“I worked out every f***ing day,” he told the publication.Even after that, I still look like I didn’t work out. I worked out twice a day at, like, three o’clock in the morning.”Speculating on why he garnered such a reaction in the first place, Pattinson partly blames his own comments in interviews, particularly one where he said exercise ‘was uncool’.“I’m like, It’s just because I said it in an interview,” he added.I was trying to sound cool!”

Pattinson made the comments in another GQ interview back in 2020, where he revealed he’d given his personal trainer the slip.‘I think if you’re working out all the time, you’re part of the problem,” he said. You set a precedent. No one was doing this in the ’70s. Even James Dean — he wasn’t exactly ripped.”He also shared that while his co-star Zoë Kravitz was hitting the gym five times a week, he was ‘just barely doing anything’.Nonetheless, to ready himself for a return to the role, Pattinson told GQ that he’s got a gym at home, meaning he’ll be free to exercise whenever he fancies. And that’s probably a good thing, because the upcoming sequel is set to start shooting ‘soon’, with Pattinson sharing that production will begin with a ‘11 weeks of nights’.“I just heard from the stunt guy the other day. He said, ‘Ooh, 11 weeks of nights.’ I’m like, ‘Excuse me?’ I’m like, ‘No one’s even sent me a schedule,’” he added.Rather than you me, Rob.
