Mixing baby oil with cloves is a simple homemade method some people use as a natural insect repellent. Baby oil acts as a moisturizing base, while cloves are believed to have properties that may help deter mosquitoes. To prepare it, gently warm about 35 ml of fragrance-free baby oil (or olive oil), add six whole cloves, and let the mixture cool. Store it in a dark glass container and allow it to infuse in a cool, dark place for 10–15 days before straining.
Once ready, the oil can be lightly applied to exposed skin or around areas where mosquitoes are present. Be sure to avoid boiling the oil, and consider doing a small skin patch test first to check for sensitivity. While some find this mixture helpful, its effectiveness may vary, so it should not replace medically approved insect repellents in high-risk areas.
