Rosie O’Donnell is speaking more openly than ever about politics, feminism, and the cosmetic surgery she once strongly opposed. During a recent public appearance, the comedian criticized President Donald Trump, calling him “a conman” and “a narcissist,” while reflecting on years of watching his public behavior in New York long before his political career. At the same time, O’Donnell has revealed a far more personal struggle involving her decision to undergo a facelift after losing 50 pounds with the help of Mounjaro. For years, she believed cosmetic surgery represented a betrayal of feminism and natural aging, but dramatic weight loss left her feeling disconnected from her reflection. Strangers often asked if she was sad or unwell because of the sagging in her face, and eventually she began reconsidering her long-held beliefs about beauty, aging, and personal freedom.
Her biggest emotional challenge came from her 13-year-old daughter, Clay, who told her, “You earned your wrinkles,” and admitted she might lose respect for her if she had surgery. Despite the guilt and months of inner conflict, O’Donnell eventually chose to move forward with a lower deep plane facelift in January 2026. She requested subtle results and was relieved that almost nobody noticed the change for months afterward. O’Donnell later described the experience as a “feminist crisis,” but ultimately concluded that true freedom means deciding what happens to your own body without shame or outside judgment. Today, she says she feels happier, more confident, and finally at peace with herself.
